culturcide - tacky souvienirs of pre-revolutionary america

anarchistic anti consumer hate fueled cover songs, vocals over the original track/music with additional music added. this guy gets it. completely astounding backlash against mainstream media and people that accept mediocrity and no personality in general. check this out!!!!!!

plus instruments - big man

kick ass minimal synth punk. also treated some female vocals on this one. good mix of sounds and rhythm here, its hard to sum up the album with one genre.

the garbage and the flowers - eyes rind as if beggars

amazing lofi garage rock with a sort of psychedelic/experimental twist. if you are into fuzzy and warbled sounds give it a listen. the band name seems to have been derived from a leonard cohen song lyric in suzanne. a lot of the songs on this album are quite long but remain solid. mainly the sounds on this blew me away, coupled with some great lyrics.

au pairs - sense and sensuality

for whatever reasons, i didnt check out this group for a long time. possibly a case of seeing the band name and thinking its another group. know what i mean? anyway, i really enjoy gang of four. particularly the varied arrangement of everything, inventive patterns, timing etc. au pairs really captures all of that same beauty and does it with the perfect female voice. politically charged lyrics will have you listening over and over.

the busy signals - self titled

super high energy pop / power / punk! catchy female fronted band. love her voice, nice and full but not so deep it sounds strange. nice and straight to the point songs that dont go on for much more than two minutes each.

drinking electricity - overload

primarily female vocals , backed by minimal drum / synthesizers / guitar. favorite track on this was EASILY "good times" . love how she sings on that track and its a great pick me up track. really puts you in a good mood. the rest of the album has some jams and generally every track at least utilizes interesting synthesized sounds.

Ensemble Pittoresque - For this is past

very cool synthesizer / drum machine / sampler / vocal work! the songs are pretty varied but overall maintain a sort of aesthetic similar to synth based krautrock , but leaning toward early electro and new wave. i particularly enjoyed the tracks with vocals. very well written stuff.

The Swirlies - They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons

this album is full of what feels to me - a slightly different way of going about the process. the title of the album kind of being the first clue :P feels like a very full sound. stretching across all sorts of timbres with synthesizers, fuzzy guitar, male and female vocals etc. just check this out!

ten mad mongers - deathbeat

the darker but not so downbeat sounds of ten mad monger. dont know anything about the band, release is however amazing. i hate to compare it to joy division but the vocals do resemble ian curtis' moody howling sound. a sound of their own is maintained and the album is a playthrough if you're into the first couple tracks.
